Remember to archive data before making the exit from TimeSig 2005. Archiving or Saving Data is a very important function.
There are 3 functions from which to choose:
![]()
Archive Only
This is the same as a simple backup.
Note: To Backup Data first select a destination drive and file name that is different from the file name you are presently using.
Data that is entered each session is automatically saved. Backing up day to day or week to week to another file name will prevent data loss.
WARNING!
Backup data frequently!
Archive and Purge
This function allows the user to save data as well as purge data before the date selected.
Note: the Purge Date option will delete data in the data base BEFORE the date selected. This makes the data base less cumbersome. This process usually done from term to term.
Any unpaid balances will be forwarded. Old schedules are deleted.
All historical data for the Student Profile remains in tact.
Note: The file that is archived should be given a different name than the one in current use.
Reset Data
Resets TimeSig by deleting everything from the database.
There may be data bases for the studio, (last term, year 1999, year 1998) or contests, or festivals. Different databases may be accessed by selecting a .mdb file. When data is archived, give titles that correspond with the content of the data. It is possible then to store or archive old files and view them whenever necessary.
